Gullveig was a practitioner of seidr magic. She was known as the starter of the war between Aesir and Vanir gods. She was an outsider that came to Asgard -the land of Aesir gods – from Vanaheim -the homeland of the Vanir – and was performing magic that the Aesir deemed to be gravely dangerous. Their response was to burn her, but, she survived using the magic that got her into trouble in the first place.
