Hel is a giantess and goddess who takes care of the dishonorable dead in the underworld of the Norse mythology. She is presented as being rather greedy, harsh, and cruel; or at least indifferent to the concerns of the living and dead.
One side of her body is really beautiful while the other side is like a rotting corpse that emits a sickly smell.
