Sif is the Viking goddess of Earth and the wife of Thor, the thunder god. They form a sacred alliance given that they complement each other, being her an earth goddess and him a sky god. This is related to the meaning of her name, “relation by marriage”. Sif was a loyal wife and the symbol of fidelity and fertility, which doesn’t mean she can’t become a furious warrior when her beloved ones are threatened. Her more distinctive trait is her long golden hair, which was handcrafted by the master-smiths dwarfs after it had been cut off by the trickster Loki. They gave her a wig from the finest gold, creating a new head of hair that was even more beautiful than the original, which is said to represent fields of wheat.
